Wang Guang, a national senior artist, is currently the Dean of Wuhu Painting Academy and Vice Chairman of Wuhu Artists Association. He has been hired as Art Consultant by the Kyrgyzstan National Museum, and has been conferred the Honorary Certificate of Contribution to Creation and to People’s Friendship by Russian and Uzbekistan Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has also been awarded the Honorary Certificate of the Cambodian Meritorious Artist by Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Arts Him Chhem, and the titles of “Cross-Strait Cultural Envoy for Peace and Friendship” and “Cross-Strait Exchange and Cooperation Contribution Award”. Wang Guang has also been appointed as the Academician of Kyrgyzstan Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Wang Guang’s traditional Chinese realistic paintings of tiger are characterized by lyricism, focusing on the tiger's inner fierceness. Instead of depicting the external “domineering” of the tiger’s teeth and claws, the paintings are elegant and rigorous, yet smooth to a proper extent. The freehand tiger works are mostly drawn with calligraphy-like use of brushes. He paints freely, and the use of ink and color is lively, depicting the tigers concisely and vividly. He perfectly combines his techniques and the theme, with a distinctive personal style. His works are loved by people of all circles and collectors.
