In June 2011, Head of Peace Tour Delegation Zhang Deguang and Secretary General Shao Changchun, led a Delegation to Kazakhstan. Part of the members of the Delegation were cordially received by President Hu Jintao. The Delegation held the Celebrating the Tenth Anniversary of the Establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Peace Tour Painting Exhibition - China-Kazakhstan Energy Cooperation Achievement Exhibition in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan. Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo and First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Shukeev attended and cut the ribbon for the exhibition. Kazakhstan Artists Association conferred the title of “Honorary Member” to the Peace Tour artists. Head of Delegation Zhang Deguang led the artists to tour the Kazakhstan National Museum. Kazakhstan Academy of Arts and Sciences conferred the title of Director and Academician of the Academy to Secretary General Shao Changchun, and the title of Academician to the Peace Tour artists. The Peace Tour Organizing Committee conferred the honorary certificate and trophy of the “Silk Road People-to-People Cooperation Award” to Mr. Nemat Kelimbetov, famous writer, scholar and Franz Kafka Prize winner of Kazakhstan, and his son, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Nematovich Kelimbetov received the award on his behalf. The artists of the Peace Tour Delegation were assigned as the Honorary Professors of T. K. Zhurgenov Kazakh State Art Academy. On behalf of the Peace Tour, Head of Delegation Zhang Deguang donated several computers to the Kazakhstan Artists Association.

During the Astana Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states, the Peace Tour delegation successfully visited Kazakhstan and held the Peace Tour Painting Exhibition - China-Kazakhstan Energy Cooperation Achievement Exhibition.
