Opening Ceremony of “Amity” International Painting Exhibition in Beijing Summit

To support the 2012 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Beijing Summit held in Beijing, the “Silk Road People-to-People Cooperation Award” Award Ceremony and the Opening Ceremony of “Amity” International Painting Exhibition were held on June 6 in the Great Hall of the People. State Councilor Dai Bingguo and Tajikistan President Emomali Rakhmon attended the Award Ceremony and cut the ribbon for the Exhibition.

The “Silk Road People-to-People Cooperation Award” aims to promote the “Peace, Harmony and Cooperation” spirit of the Silk Road, promote good-neighborly and friendly cooperation among the countries along the Silk Road, and enhance the traditional friendship between SCO member states, in recognize of Chinese and foreign individuals who have made outstanding contributions in the field of people-to-people exchanges and cooperation among SCO member countries.

The Silk Road Peace Award Committee was initiated by the Global Peace Tour of World-famous Chinese Artists with Their Drawings Organizing Committee Co., Ltd., adhering to the Silk Road spirit. As a non-profit organization composed of multiple enterprises, Silk Road Peace Award Committee aims to promote the Silk Road spirit of peace, cooperation, harmony and exchange, enhance economic and people-to-people cooperation as well as political trust, and promote the peaceful development of Silk Road region and the whole world. After 7-year preparation, Silk Road Peace Award obtained support from dignitaries and former leaders of dozens of countries, 47 international art institutions and large-scale multinational companies. During the preparation, Peace Tour visited 17 countries and regions in the world, conferred the trophies and certificates of “Art Ambassador for Peace” and “Art Master for Peace” to over 50 dignitaries and artists from 14 countries, and the title of “Silk Road Peace City” to 1 city.

Award of “Amity” International Painting Exhibition in Beijing Summit

Russian artist Milla Mikhaiumllovna Kozlova, Tajikistan Ambassador to China Lahid Alimov, Uzbekistan social activist Gulnara Karimova, Kazakhstan Scholar Duken Musmuhan, former Kyrgyzstan Minister of Culture Sultan Raev and Professor Hu Zhenhua from Minzu University of China won this year’s “Silk Road People-to-People Cooperation Award”. Honorary Director General of Beijing Peace Tour Cultural Exchange Center Zhang Deguang said in his speech that the Award Ceremony of “Silk Road People-to-People Cooperation Award” is the highlight of the opening of the cultural exchange activities during the SCO Summit. The six winners actively explored in their respective fields. They promoted the Silk Road spirit of exchange, communication, friendship, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation with their own diligent work and outstanding wisdom, so as to set a good example for the art exchange and cooperation among SCO member states. He believes that the establishment and promotion of this award will inject new vitality into the friendly cooperation among the countries in the region. The “Amity” International Painting Exhibition is one of the most important activities during the SCO Beijing Summit, and one of the art exchange activities with the highest standard among SCO member states. This exhibition has more than 120 artworks created by over 50 famous artists, whose works depicted natural scenery, people-to-people features and national customs as well as cultural heritage and charm of art of various countries.

24 Chinese and foreign artists including Ai Xuan, Fan Yang, Zheng Yi, Ma Jun, Ombysh Kuznetsov Mikhail, Suhavitskaya Yuliya, Kudrevaty Mikhail, Ivankin Vadim won the “Excellent Work Award” at the 2012 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Beijing Summit “Amity” International Painting Exhibition.

Vice President of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Vice Chairman of China Artists Association Feng Yuan said in his speech at the “Amity” International Painting Exhibition that this exhibition showcased latest art creation techniques and trends of various countries, providing an excellent opportunity for domestic and foreign artists to learn from each other and understand each other. At the same time, it provided a new perspective for domestic art creation. He hoped that domestic and foreign artists, especially Chinese artists, can take this opportunity to actively participate in international exchange activities, cultivating more talents and producing more good works, so as to consolidate the cultural foundation of China and contribute to the prosperity of China’s art creation.
