The opening ceremony of “Harmonious Asia” International Painting Exhibition of Artists for Peace, co-organized by Beijing Peace Tour Cultural Exchange Center and China International Culture Association, was held at China Art Palace in Shanghai. Almost 200 people including leaders and artists of CICA member states, observer states, and dialogue partners as well as media attended the opening ceremony. Member of Political Bureau of the CPCCC and Secreatary of Committee of Political and Legal Affairs of the CPCCC Meng Jianzhu, Tajikistan President Rahmon, State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Guo Shengkun, and Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai Cooperation Organization Akkoshkarov also attended. Commissioner Meng Jianzhu and President Rakhmon delivered speech on the ceremony respectively. 149 art works showcased in this exhibition were drawn by 80 Chinese and foreign artists from 27 including CICA member states, observer states and dialogue partners, and specially invited artists from European and Australian countries. These works are closely related to the theme of “Harmonious Asia”, with diverse forms, different styles and imposing meanings, vividly interpreting the people-to-people thoughts of peace-loving Asian people and even people all over the world, and conveying a rich and profound concept of harmony. The exhibition was held during the CICA Summit to create harmonious atmosphere for the Summit, which aroused enthusiastic response from all circles of the society, and was highly appreciated by media and the public.
