On September 27, 2017, the “Peace and Friendship” Painting Exhibition of China and Ukraine Artists & the Reception for the 68th Anniversary of the PRC, jointly organized by institutions including Beijing Peace Tour Cultural Exchange Center, International Union of Artists for Peace, and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine unveiled in Kiev. This exhibition is one of the major events to celebrate the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Ukraine. A total of 59 works by 30 Chinese and Ukrainian artists were exhibited, including Chinese paintings, oil paintings, and watercolors, depicting natural scenery and daily life of the people in China and Ukraine and reflecting different customs and cultures of the two countries as well as positive humanity and common expectations for peace.

At the opening ceremony, Ambassador Du Wei conferred the Silk Road People-to-People Cooperation Award to former Ukarine Presidents Kravchuk, Kuchma (representative), and Yushchenko, which is founded by Silk Road Peace Award Foundation, with the aim to promote the peace spirit of the Silk Road and boost the art exchanges among countries along the Belt and Road.

First Deputy Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Gerashchenko, Minister of Culture Nyshchuk, former President Kravchuk, former President Yushchenko, Chairman of the Ukraine-China Inter-parliamentary Group of Friendship Pavelko, Director of Foreign Affairs of the Presidential Office Zovkova, as well as Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, high-ranking military Generals, diplomatic envoys of various countries to Ukraine, people friendly to China from all fields, Chinese with foreign nationality, overseas Chinese and representatives of Chinese-funded institutions has attended the reception, with the total number reaching 500.
