Global Peace Tour of World-famous Chinese Artists with Their Drawings Organizing Committee delegation led by Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee of the NPC of China and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Li Zhaoxing visited Royal University of Fine Art and national museum of Cambodia on the 13th, and communicated with local artists as well as teachers and students from the university.
State Secretary of Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Art Som Sokun warmly received the delegation, and held a discussion with them at the Royal University of Fine Art. Both parties agreed to strengthen exchanges, promote the in-depth development of the friendly cooperation in the field of culture between China and Cambodia, and contribute to the comprehensive and in-depth development of the traditional friendship between the two countries.
Som Sokun said that the visit to Cambodia of the Peace Tour delegation, composed of many famous artists, is of great significance to further strengthen the exchange and cooperation in the field of culture and art between Cambodia and China. He believed that this visit would bring new opportunities for the development of cooperation in terms of culture and art between the two countries.
Bun Sovann, President of the Royal University of Fine Art in Cambodia, said that art in China have reached international standards in many fields including music, dancing and ceramics, yet Royal University of Fine Art lacks teachers in this field. He hoped that China could provide various forms of help, such as sending experienced teachers to the University or provide scholarships to allow promising Cambodian students to study in China.
Li Zhaoxing thanked Cambodia for the warm reception. He expressed that he would convey relevant suggestions of Cambodia to the Chinese Ministry of Culture, and actively promote the art exchange and cooperation between the two countries.
Li Zhaoxing said that Cambodia is an ancient country with a lengthy history, and has splendid human art such as the Angkor Wat. Former King Sihanouk is not only an outstanding statesman but also a great artist.
Li Zhaoxing hoped that through the joint efforts of both sides, the traditional friendship and friendly cooperation between China and Cambodia will be further strengthened. He said that the artists of the delegation will use the paintings to convey the affection and friendship of the Cambodian people and the beautiful scenery of Cambodia to Chinese people.
The Peace Tour delegation also donated a batch of paints and a computer to the Royal University of Fine Art in Cambodia and two paintings to the National Museum of Cambodia. The Royal Cambodian Academy of Arts conferred the Honorary Professor certificate to the five artists of the Peace Tour delegation. (Xinhuanet)
